On 19th February 2015 Sifu Williams held a Jado Fun and awareness day to help raise money for renovation work on the Daventry Community Centre. The event sold out with 46 children, 6 -13 years old attending and contained a variety of topics from Daventry Community Support Officers, PCSO Harris and PCSO Cummins giving a talk about safety, Police Dog Handler with PD Redd talking about how Police Dogs find people and the uniform the Police Officers use – this gave the children the opportunity to try on Police uniform and have photographs taken, stranger danger workshop and importance of keeping safe. This involved discussions about what to do if a stranger approaches a child and they were taught to shout a very important short and easy to remember phase, “STOP I DON’T KNOW YOU”. The work shops were split up with some Jado fun and games in between which included dodge ball and pad work. Every child received a free goody bag at the end with a variety of items donated from the Police, Jado Kuin Do, Change for life and some fun activity sheets. £150 has been donated to the Daventry Community Centre from the event.
The day received very positive feedback with people asking when the next one will be held.
One parent said, “My three that attended have done nothing but talk about the day”
